THE CALMNESS OF GOD | The Word Exposed with Cardinal Tagle (July 23, 2023) Today is the 16th Sunday in ordinary time and in the gospel, Jesus continues to preach in parables. We have three this time. The first teaches us that God's harvest would only be truly seen in the final judgment, when the weeds can be distinguished from the wheat. The weeds would be tied for burning and the wheat gathered in God's barn. The second and third parables teach us that despite the littleness of God's kingdom now, Jesus likes it to mustard seed and yeast, its growth and reach would be awe inspiring. A tiny mustard seed can grow into a large bush, which could be a dwelling place for birds. A small amount of yeast can make the dough rise. So brothers and sisters let the gospel be our consolation. God does not hastily judge his crops. God's calmness gives us room to repent and to grow. #CardinalTagle #TheWordExposed #JesComPh ______________ The Word Exposed with Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples reflects on Sunday's Mass readings each week.
