GetSportsFocus.com - by: Justin Lum 3 KEYS TO FOOTHILL'S FIRST WIN AGAINST SRV SINCE 2008 1. KYLE KEARNS IS CLUTCH Coming into this matchup with a 6:1 TD-INT ratio and completing 77 percent of his passes, Kyle Kearns was finally tested this season against an EBAL rival he could never beat until tonight. Despite throwing one interception, Kearns was efficient in the first half completing 9-of-13 passes for 120 yards and added a five-yard touchdown run. Kearns would only complete four more passes in the second half but two of those throws were touchdowns in the fourth quarter. 2. BUILT FLOYD TOUGH The EBAL is going to find out who Isaiah Floyd is very soon. The junior running back ran hard in the league opener and got better with each carry. At halftime, Floyd was limited to ten yards rushing on four carries in the first half but would rush eleven times for 95 yards and a score in the second half. The Foothill offense is balanced in the run and pass which will be relied upon later in the season. 3. DIRTY BIRD DEFENSE No, I'm not saying Foothill plays dirty defense. This unit is fast to the ball and brings major contact. The front seven put pressure on San Ramon Valley QB Zack Baker all night and allowed him to complete 12-of-29 passes for 161 yards. Baker did throw three touchdowns but was picked off twice with one of those interceptions going 26 yards for a score. Bottom line, the Falcons squeezed 13 points out of two Wolves turnovers. The final score could have been an SRV 28-27 win but Foothill likes the sound of 40-28 much better.
