GetSportsFocus.com - by: Justin Lum PITTSBURG DEFENSE INVADES FALCONS' NEST The Foothill offense came into this match up scoring 36 points per game but was stunned by a stingy Pittsburg defense. The Pirates created three turnovers, including two interceptions, and made the Falcons offense punt seven times, allowing zero points in the second half. With the 10-7 win, Pittsburg head coach Victor Galli's stout defense has allowed just under 8 points a game during this 7-game win streak. LOCKED ON LANGLEY Pirates wide receiver and cornerback Jordan Parker had himself a night against Foothill. The junior matched up with USC-bound Isaiah Langley all game and held him to one reception for two yards. During the second quarter, Foothill had a chance to score it's first touchdown on the Pirates 6-yard line when Langley took a hand off and decided to throw but Parker came into contact with the intended receiver, deflecting the ball into the hands of linebacker Noah Palega. More importantly, Parker's big play on offense came on a bubble screen that he took 29 yards to the end zone, Pittsburg's lone touchdown. FOOTHILL'S FUTURE With Kyle Kearns and Isaiah Langley off to college next season, we have yet to find out who can replace these impact players. But the Falcons don't have to worry about the wideout position with Ruben Mercado returning. Mercado flashed quick footwork on a slick field and showed his ability to produce yards after the catch. The junior finished the game with 11 catches for 122 yards against an impressive Pittsburg secondary.
