12 DAY DIY COLORADO BACKCOUNTRY ELK PACK DUMP

12 DAY DIY COLORADO BACKCOUNTRY ELK PACK DUMP

Here is what I packed for my first diy over the counter elk hunt to Colorado. This was a huge learning curve for all of us. There are several things that I changed as the trip went on. We ended up coming back to where we camped each day and moved camp every couple days. When packing in 6 days of food, my bow and all my gear and water I was around 70lbs. During the day of hunting, one day of food, camera gear, water, and bow I was around 35lbs. Some things I ended up changing were 2 camera batteries (not 5), 1 in camera and 1 in bino harness, 2 plates (not 3), no crocs (didn't need them but would definitely pack them at the truck, left 50mm lens at truck, left rain gear at truck, left trekking poles at camp (would only use them to pack out an elk), left go pro mount at truck (held by hand), need a new sleeping pad (mine wouldn't stay inflated), took out nd filter and circular polarizer (weren't worth the weight), wore boot gaiters everyday (well worth it), did not wear pants suspenders. Please comment below with any questions or things I need to change. Thankyou.
