Where To Camp On A Backcountry Hunt

A common question Randy often gets is "where should i put my camp on a backcountry hunt?" People often wonder how close they should be to the elk, should they be up hill or downhill, and a variety of other concerns. In this video, Randy goes over just that. While on a backcountry Colorado elk hunt at 12,000 feet he has to pick a camp that was not only far enough away from where he though the elk would be but also one that'd provide enough feed for the llamas. As a general rule, Randy suggests being downhill from where the elk are going to be. This allows you to hike up in the morning and down in the evening with the wind in your favor. On this hunt, Randy is about 1 mile away from where he thinks the elk are. ** MERCH!: https://bit.ly/2qtvRAC Use promo code: RANDY for $50 store credit in the goHUNT gear shop when you sign up for the goHUNT INSIDER service OR 10% https://bit.ly/2E9YEyM Use promo code: RANDY to get a free pair of gaiters when you order boots. www.kenetrek.com/pages/randy Use promo code: RANDY at checkout for 15% off Rocky Mountain Hunting Calls https://bit.ly/2KGMZvX Use promo code: RANDY at checkout for 15% off Gerber Gear https://bit.ly/2qhG53K CAMERA GEAR WE USE: Main Camera: https://amzn.to/2JjUt4U Video/Photo Camera: https://amzn.to/2BGSH9H GoPro: https://amzn.to/2MJ83ke Shotgun Mic: https://amzn.to/2WfJ37E Versatile Lens: https://amzn.to/2W9KLam Cheaper Versatile Lens: https://amzn.to/31IHXlK Long Lens: https://amzn.to/2pLXYdA Wide Lens: https://amzn.to/2BHvBQg Subscribe to Randy Newberg, Hunter https://goo.gl/4TZOiJ Watch on Amazon: https://amazon.com/v/randy Download Episodes: http://randynewberg.vhx.tv/ Instagram:   / randynewberghunter   Facebook:   / randynewberg   Forum: https://www.HuntTalk.com Website: http://www.RandyNewberg.com Twitter:   / randynewberg
