It Came upon a Midnight Clear is one of five exciting pieces from Christmas Jazz Volume 3 by Chris Lawry and Keri Degg.***LINKS BELOW*** This is the fourth piece in the book (five pieces in all) and is one of the smoochier pieces in the book. Enjoy playing the traditional melody over the beautiful Jazz-combo accompaniment before transitioning into a stunning written out original solo. The whole thing oozes the holiday season….crackling log fires and gently falling snow. As with all the other Christmas Jazz pieces the original known melody is featured (though often in radically changed styles) but also incorporates stunning new original lines and melodies that really allow the soloist to soar with the beautifully created audio tracks. The pieces are not too advanced and are graded between grades 3-6, so players of intermediate ability will be able to play all without any difficulty. Christmas Jazz Volume 3 consists of five festive arrangements including smoochy ballads (O Christmas Tree, and It Came upon a Midnight Clear), but also tunes with serious groove factor: O Little Town of Bethlehem (a fun filled swing number), Here we Come A-Wassailing (another light-hearted jaunt full of festive spirit), and Ding Dong Merrily on High, which absolutely exudes joy.
