Map Button Your Navigation System contains precise mapping of all major cities and roads to keep you on track. Once you've chosen a destination, the computer calculates a route, with time and distance to your destination provided instantly. Your position is constantly updated and guidance provided, as well as information to nearby restaurants, hotels and other stops. Press the MAP button to display the current location's map screen. Then press ENTER and a menu will come up. Use your controller to highlight a particular item, then press ENTER to select. To access a particular map view, press ENTER while the current map screen is displayed. You'll get this menu. Highlight "Map View" and press ENTER. Now highlight "Change View" and select the 2D or BIRDVIEW format. The 2D view shows a map in the two dimensional form that is similar to a road map. The BIRDVIEW map makes a route more recognizable because it elevates the landmarks and provides a panoramic view over a long distance. If you highlight SPLIT: BIRDVIEW MAP you can look at both views at once on a split screen. Use the arrows on the multi-function controller to move around a map. When you start moving, a cross pointer appears. Stop when the pointer is where you want it and press ENTER. Touch screen operations can also be used to move around a map screen. To view the map in greater detail, turn the multi-function controller to the right until you achieve the desired setting. To view a wider area, turn it to the left. If you press and hold the ZOOM button in either direction, you'll get continuously closer or farther away map views. The scale information will disappear after neither ZOOM setting has been used for several seconds.
