15-year-old victim of Hamilton hit-and-run identified as Yaqoub Saeed

The Muslim Association of Hamilton has identified the 15-year-old victim that died in a hit-and-run on Wednesday. In a newsletter sent out Thursday evening, Imam Sayed Tora says the victim was Yaqoub Saeed, a member of the congregation along with his parents and five siblings. A funeral service for Saeed was held today at the Hamilton Mountain Mosque at 1545 Stone Church Rd. East. Saeed died on Wednesday after being struck by a vehicle being driven by another 15-year-old. In a news conference, Const. Krista-Lee Ernst confirmed that both teens are students at St. Thomas More Catholic Secondary School. Police have arrested and charged a 15-year-old boy with failing to remain, causing death.
