NC: UNC student assaulted near residence hall, attacker arrested

UNC said the 18-year-old is not a student at the University. A UNC student was assaulted Wednesday night on Skipper Bowles Drive. Around 8:55 p.m. Wednesday, the student reported being assaulted by a male near the Craige Residence Hall. According to UNC Media Relations, the student was pulled into a wooded area by a man, who then tried to push the student down. The student fought off the man and contacted campus police. The man was arrested by UNC police and is in custody. According to the arrest report, Jordan Dean Steele, 18, was charged on one count of felony kidnapping and one count of misdemeanor assault. UNC said Steele was not related to the university.
