The Syrian crisis is stepping into its seventh year, with millions of desperate people still trapped in plights. March 15 marks the sixth anniversary of the Syrian crisis, which has brought about the most serious humanitarian disaster since the second World War. According to the latest data released by the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) on Monday, at least 652 children died in Syria in 2016, a 20 percent increase over 2015. That makes 2016 the worst year for the Syrian children since the formal verification of child casualties started in 2014. According to the United Nations (UN), at least 13.5 million people are currently in need of humanitarian assistance in Syria, over 6.32 million people have been displaced internally and 4.95 million Syrian refugees have been accepted by neighboring countries. And some 880,000 Syrian refugees have applied for asylum in European countries. The World Bank's data show that Syria had a population of about 20 million in 2010. And it is estimated that the population has declined to about 18 million. Some 5,000 Syrian people leave the country every day. The crisis had incurred a total economic loss to Syria of over 300 billion U.S. dollars by 2016. http://www.cctvplus.com/news/20170316...
