Released 12th Feb 2021 Video by Team Biscuit Studios LYRICS Hummingbird, you flit from bud to bud taking what you can And use up all the sweetness in their fragile frames Then you just leave them empty Like you did to me And it’s hard to see behind the beauty Another side Broken wings will never fly Broken wings will never fly Butterfly, feeding on the nectar ‘til you’ve had enough But it never satisfies and you’ve just got to move on A sweeter scent is carried on the wind Well you fed on me And it’s hard to see behind the beauty Another side Broken wings will never fly Broken wings will never fly Oooh Hummingbird Oooh Butterfly Broken wings will never fly Broken wings will never fly Hummingbird, you flit from bud to bud taking what you can And use up all the sweetness in their fragile frames Then you just leave them empty Written by The Lost Trades ABOUT THE LOST TRADES The Lost Trades are a trio of Wiltshire based singer songwriters (Jamie R Hawkins, Phil Cooper and Tamsin Quin) brought together by a mutual love of modern folk and roots music. Having joined forces in late 2019, their close three part harmonies have consistently drawn comparisons to Crosby Stills & Nash and Fleetwood Mac. Performing both collectively and individually penned songs, The Lost Trades tell carefully crafted stories using an array of stringed instruments and light percussion, all lovingly stitched together with soaring vocal harmonies. A global pandemic meant their debut tour in 2020 was cut short and the three retreated to their songwriting rooms and studio in an effort to condense the initial excitement into an album they could tour once the world opened up again. The resulting album is “The Bird, The Book & The Barrel” which was released in June 2021. The album spent several months in the Top 40 Official Folk Album Charts peaking at #33 in January 2022.
