Video by Team Biscuit Studios LYRICS Bird song through my open window Crayon chasing paper rainbows Watch the shadows climb the wall Mark the passage of the day Strange days full of contradictions Play safe, playground derelictions Faces hide behind the glass Strangers pass the time of day And although I count the ticking of the clock To hear your knuckles knocking at my door I’ll give anything to stop things from returning To the way they were before Cos as the distance brings us closer We learn to look out for each other So that when all this is over We won’t have to be alone cos then the distance brings you home Home... Ooooh Blue skies, no trace of imperfection Road signs with no one there to heed them Bees returning to the bud As nature takes back what it’s owed And although I count the hours of the day To see your face appearing at my door I’ll endeavour to be grateful for those little things That I used to ignore Cos as the distance brings us closer We’re looking out for one another So that when all this is over We won’t have to be alone And as the distance brings us closer Feel my hand upon your shoulder And know that when all this is over You won’t have to be alone So let the distance bring you home, home Let the distance bring you home... Oooh Let the distance bring you home ABOUT THE LOST TRADES The Lost Trades are a trio of Wiltshire based singer songwriters (Jamie R Hawkins, Phil Cooper and Tamsin Quin) brought together by a mutual love of modern folk and roots music. Having joined forces in late 2019, their close three part harmonies have consistently drawn comparisons to Crosby Stills & Nash and Fleetwood Mac. Performing both collectively and individually penned songs, The Lost Trades tell carefully crafted stories using an array of stringed instruments and light percussion, all lovingly stitched together with soaring vocal harmonies. A global pandemic meant their debut tour in 2020 was cut short and the three retreated to their songwriting rooms and studio in an effort to condense the initial excitement into an album they could tour once the world opened up again. The resulting album is “The Bird, The Book & The Barrel” which was released in June 2021. The album spent several months in the Top 40 Official Folk Album Charts peaking at #33 in January 2022.
