Here’s What Causes It and How to Fix the Issue; Dirty/Malfunctioning Throttle Body The engine power reduced message in a Chevy Equinox is mostly associated with a malfunctioning or clogged-up throttle body. To clear the engine power reduced message, • Remove and clean the throttle body using a throttle body cleaner. • Spray the cleaner into the throttle body, gently scrub the dirt away with a soft-bristle brush or toothbrush, and use a clean rug or towel to wipe the loosened dirt and cleaning residue. • Wait for the throttle body to dry and then return it.
