Cherokee is a jazz standard that many of the great jazz drummers like Buddy Rich,Gene Krupa,Louie Bellson,Joe Morello,Jeff Hamilton,have done solo`s on.This is a new arrangement that we did on this Ray Noble composed song.Tony Castellano Jr. playing the melody and bass line at the same time on his Yamaha keyboard. I get to do my solo on these great vintage Slingerland 1968 jazz drumset.Slingerland drums at one time was the largest drum company in the world.So many great drummers like Gene Krupa,Buddy Rich,Neil Peart,Jake Hanna,Roy Haynes and so many others played on Slingerland drums.
