British Railways Green EE Type 3's D6851 & D6817 thrash through Wigan North Western on the afternoon of Friday 11th June 2021. The pair of Class 37s (37667 & 37521 in new money) were working a special charter from Llandudno Jn to Carlisle and were hauling a rake of Intercity liveried MkIII coaches and two Statesman MkIIs. The locos were in fine form and thrashing nicely with some friendly tones from the traincrew, unfortunately a late running Northern diesel unit pulled into the platform to my left with the noise of the unit's engines doing a fairly good job of drowning out the sound of the 37s until they are practically on top of me. I did try and do some post production magic but it didn't really work how I had wanted it so went with the original cut instead. We had to set up this far down the platform as there was another Northern 6 car unit due into platform four imminently so it was a gamble to take the spot at the top end, I played it safe and would've been happy had we not been burned by the diesel :/ The tour was booked to run from Llandudno however due to a slight miscalculation the train was too long to fit into the station without fouling the points at the station throat so it started 3 miles short at Llandudno Jn. The official tour name was "The Coast & Peaks Rover" but was also going under the name "Three Peaks from a Seat" and was a combined tour with the main Railway Children charity tour being joined by the Branch Line Society. The official working was; 1Z16 Llandudno - Carlisle (partially cancelled to run as Llandudno Junction - Carlisle) Thanks for watching and subscribe to see more rail videos coming soon.
