RANKING UP with DOUBLE ICE Strategy (Giratina Lead) Open Ultra League | Pokemon GO Battle League PVP
In this video we take a look at a collection of battles in Season 8 of the Pokemon GO Battle League (GBL) in the Open Ultra League featuring the Double Ice Strategy: Giratina Altered Forme, Articuno and Shadow Lapras. The Double Ice strat has been my most successful team for Ultra League since Season 2 and it this video we take a look at the original ABB line where we lead Giratina Altered instead of Articuno as is often seen in the ABA version of this line. One other notable change to this team is the use of Shadow Lapras instead of the normal one and we are also running Skull Bash instead of Ice Beam. Skull Bash makes the mirror match-up a lot better, and while it does make the Giratina match-up significantly worse, this is somewhat offset by the shadow damage on Ice Shard. None of the Pokemon on this team are XL, however, despite being a triple non-XL team, it is still a very expensive team with 2 shadow Pokemon and Lapras basically requiring being maxed out. The main idea behind this version of the line is to draw out the Steel type using Articuno or Lapras as the safe-switch, depending on the lead you're up against, and then coming in with Giratina to farm it down. Using Articuno as the safe-swap means that the opponent will at least be debuffed in the worst case scenario. Overall, I went 17-3 with this team across 4 sets and was able to reach Veteran Rank. This is a very strong team that has been proven to work in the past and still looks extremely viable for Season 8 despite some meta changes.
