Young Change Agents & EM-Power First Nations Native Food Innovators Program 2025 | Maker Grant

First Nations Native Food Innovators was a partnership between social enterprises Young Change Agents and First Nations-led social enterprise EM-power Foundation. It was designed to boost STEM education and entrepreneurship among First Nations youth in Greater Adelaide and Brisbane. Engaging up to 160 students, the initiative delivered six native food workshops, six entrepreneurial programs and two second-stage youth incubators held at local partner universities Griffith University and the University of South Australia. Students tapped into knowledge from local elders, design thinking experts, agricultural scientists and innovators in this hands-on, inquiry-based program led by First Nations facilitators. In this video young people from the Brisbane Youth Incubator share their experiences and the impact of the program. This initiative was supported by funding from the Maker Projects – Community STEM Engagement grants 2025.
