Jesus had already known him, his heart and mind; his thoughts and pain, the lack of purpose and meaning in his life. Jesus saw in him a void, a meaningless existence a life being wasted. He saw a man who needed a savior. A savior who could meet every need of his existence. So the two words of Jesus "follow me" made him a new man, a man who was a sinner and spiritually dead was brought to life, It was the mercy of Jesus that moved Levi to undergo such a radical transformation; The transformation was to such an extent that he had no question, no doubt, no half-heartedness and no delayed decision; but an immediate and spontaneous response; that he left everything, got up and followed Jesus. His commitment towards Christ was complete, it totally changed him from being a sinful man to a transformed man. Dear brothers and sisters, What about us? Have we allowed Jesus to transform us? or What is it that keeps us away from Jesus or What is it that we have to leave behind to become the true followers of Jesus? Is it Pride? Anger? Hurt? or Resentment? Let us be prepared to respond to Jesus' call and always be ready to encounter Jesus in our life.
