It’s committement: Jesus’ committement to God and people. He dedicated his entire life for people. If you look at today’s reading, it is clearly written that He didnt have time to eat food. Not only that, Sadducees criticized him, saying, “He is gone out of his mind.” Jesus- as a preacher, as a healer , as a teacher, as a family member and as a good friend was fully committed in his thoughts, deeds and words. In the light of the Gospel, let us ask where do we stand in our committement? Jesus by his life explicitly proclaims to be committed to the responsibilities that we are assigned with. However, to be really committed two things are necessary; Firstly, we need to be other-centered. Jesus always thought good about others and lived for others; He was not selfish, He was generous. When we think for others and live for others we automatically become other centered people. Secondly, we need to sacrifice a lot. Jesus’ mission was not an easy one. He walked from village to village, bearing the scorching sun, He faced humiliations, He carried the burden of false accusations made by people, hungry and thirsty, sometimes even threat to his own life. These are the sacrifices He made. With out sacrifices He could not show his commitments. Thus, to be a committed, dedicated person you and I need to have ‘other-centered heart’ like Jesus as well as ever readiness to make sacrifices. Let our committed or dedicated life be for others’ welfare and for the greater glory of God. Amen…
