How Vocational Education is Shaping Aspirations of Students like Tanuja, Student, GSSS Bhanjar, H.P
In the short-film, "Writing my own destiny" by Wadhwani Foundation shows how the Vocational Education program is transforming lives of students in Himachal Pradesh. The Himachal Pradesh Government, Community College Initiative and Wadhwani Foundation, Global Skills Network (GSN) as the Program Manager work together so as to provide education to the students from different domains of life. We not only enable a sound education but allow for the students to fly soaring high and achieve goals like any other ordinary child. Skills Development Network (SDN), now Global Skills Network (GSN) is the largest skills development initiative of the Wadhwani Foundation. GSN primarily works with students who have graduated their 12th grade but haven't pursued any other advanced professional course. The major objective of the program is to - work with State Governments to enable NSQF aligned vocationalization of Secondary and Higher Secondary education in schools, with an aim to equip high school graduates with sufficient work skills to command family supporting wages. She says, "If you study with interest, anything is possible." This only goes on to prove the heights these children can reach, if provided with apt education. The Trainer, Chandini Mahant, Vidyanta Skills Institute says, "I have noticed a change in their (students) confidence level and communication level. It has improved a lot." WF GSN aims to equip non-college-bound high school graduates with sufficient employability skills to command family-supporting wages. GSN also aims to transform Training Institutes into modern manufacturing training hubs and multi-skill institutes and engages with employers to provide adjunct faculty, internships, and apprenticeships.
