Vocational Education is Grooming Students for Employment - Dr. Chauhan, NSQF, H.P
Dr Chauhan, NSQF, H.P talks about how the vocational education program by NSQF along with Wadhwani Foundation is transforming lives of students in Himachal Pradesh. The Himachal Pradesh Government, Community College Initiative and Wadhwani Foundation, Global Skills Network (GSN) as the Program Manager work together so as to provide education to the students from different domains of life. Skills Development Network (SDN), now Global Skills Network (GSN) is the largest skills development initiative of the Wadhwani Foundation. GSN primarily works with students who have graduated their 12th grade but haven't pursued any other advanced professional course. The major objective of the program is to - Enhance vertical mobility for students aspiring to pursue a degree program through entry level mid-skill jobs. In the interview, he states the Government is showing a keen interest in making all youth employable. The vocational education program is allowing students to get employed in spite of geographical constraints. He also adds that the vocational training helps students in understanding the nuances of entrepreneurship and help them gain insight into the industry related knowledge.
