Two people were badly injured when an express bus traveling from Lumut to Alor Setar in Malaysia went off the road and landed in a ditch on Thursday (January 16). At least eight other people were also hurt in the accident. The bus, which was carrying 23 passengers, was traveling in the northbound lane of the North-South Expressway near the 217.5-kilometre mark when the accident occurred, according to The Star Online. According to Taiping OCPD ACP Yusof Mohd Diah, the bus was trying to avoid ramming a car. The Star Online reported the vehicle hit the side railing at around 1:50 p.m., skidding before landing in the ditch. Twenty firemen were dispatched from the Taiping and Kuala Kangsar fire and rescue stations to help the passengers out of the bus and clean up the oil spill on the body of the vehicle and on the road. The uninjured passengers were transferred to another bus to continue their journey. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Next Media Animation's News Direct service provides daily, high-quality, informative 3D animated news graphics that fill in for missing footage and help viewers understand breaking news stories or in-depth features on science, technology, and health.
