Imran Khan gets bail, re-arrested in Cipher case

Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan on Tuesday 29 august, got bail in the Toshakhana case, as the Islamabad High Court paused a sessions court verdict that had sentenced Imran to three years in jail. The high court had reserved a verdict on Imran Khan's plea on Monday.The Islamabad High Court's divisional bench, comprising Chief Justice Amer Farooq and Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri, reserved the verdict after hearing arguments from both parties' representatives. Earlier in August, Imran Khan had been sentenced to three years in prison by an Islamabad court. The district and sessions court had found him guilty of corruption concerning matters linked to the Toshakhana, the repository for state gifts. Additionally, due to the conviction, Imran Khan remains ineligible to hold any public office. Following the court's ruling, he was taken into custody earlier in the same month.Imran Khan appealed his conviction in the Islamabad High Court and also moved to the Supreme Court to challenge the high court's decision, which had referred the case back to the trial court judge who had initially convicted him.Earlier islamabad court suspended imran khan in toshkahana case verdict .
