Heavy congestion being seen on highways as people travel for the Lunar New Year holidays

설 연휴 전날 고속도로 정체...인천공항도 북적 It's the eve of the Lunar New Year holiday. Naturally highways throughout the nation are set to see bumper to bumper traffic with people rushing to get a head start to spend time with their families. According to the Korea Expressway Corporation, as of 4 pm Friday local time, cars were driving at a slower-than-normal speed of 40 kilometers per hour on average. From the capital, to Busan it will take about 5 hours, 4 hours for Daegu and 3 for Daejeon. The total traffic volume today is expected to reach 5 million vehicles... with around 5-hundred-thousand leaving the Seoul metropolitan area. Large crowds are also seen at Incheon International Airport. Starting today, the number of travelers using the country's main gateway is expected to reach around point-4 million through next Thursday.
