SWELTERING WEEK OF HEAT The core of the hot air from the Plains will build across the area today and remain so through the middle of this week. Highs today will easily reach the low to mid 90s with mid to upper 90s expected Tuesday. Increasing humidity levels will also accompany the hot weather as dew points climb near 70 degrees. This will certainly lead to heat index values between 96 to 104 degrees during this span. The later half of the week still show signs that the core of this heat may shift west placing the area under the periphery of this dome of hot air. The later week may see afternoon highs around 90 degrees. This should keep heat index values below heat advisory criteria. There is a possibility that a couple of disturbances may ride along the ridge of fire and graze the area with a shower or two. We'll keep an eye on it. Hot and humid conditions will return with vengeance just in time for the Labor Day weekend with temperatures well into the 90s! James Z.
