SEASONAL SWING THIS WEEK Returning to work, I do see signs of the pendulum swinging back to spring as we go through this week. We just have to get through another fairly chilly day. Remnants of yesterday chill will start off our day with readings this morning below freezing. Fortunately, a bountiful March sun will pop temperatures in the lower 40s by this afternoon. By tonight, temperatures may briefly fall below freezing before slowly rising around sunrise Tuesday as winds start blowing in from the south. The culprit will be a tightly wound system developing out of the Plains that at the same will carry some broken cloudiness as well. This return flow should easily return temperatures in the 50s with some hometowns well to our south possibly flirting near 60 degrees. Limited moisture will be noted with this approaching system as it slides across the area late that night. None the less, a few passing light rain shower can't be ruled out. Some of this moisture could be mixed with a few light snow showers, given temperatures will be just above freezing. Winds will still be quite breezy on Wednesday, but this time out of the west. This will allow the pendulum to briefly swing the other way cooling temperatures back in the lower 40s. We'll finish the work week with temperatures returning in the 50s, though the transition may lead to a rain shower by Friday. -James Z.
