Billy Joel Live At The First Union Center, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania November 6th, 1998 Audience Recording Sound Quality: A- Following a 10 day, period without uploading any Billy Joel shows on this channel, I have finally found another show that I would like to get on YouTube for this great artist which is another performance from the 1998 Greatest Hits tour although, a show that isn’t from the first two legs of the tour but, on one from November 1998 where Billy has returned after cancelling his 1998 European Face To Face shows with Elton John and has also keyed down a couple of songs (they still sound great though) as it is a fantastic performance with some nice renditions of songs performed here. As usual for these 1998 shows, we once again find Billy in strong form while also being backed up with a tight band performance. By this time on the tour after mostly touring for most of the year, it is safe to say that if there were any problems at the February, March, April and March shows that they would have been ironed out at this point. Billy once again delivers excellent vocals throughout the night and even displays gutsiness on a couple of tonight’s songs by going for notes that he wouldn’t normally go for in the prime-live era which sounds brilliant. So, overall just like how all of these 1998 Philadelphia shows go, expect a top-tier performance from everyone here which is backed up with a great audience recording. Songs to look out for at tonight’s show include You’re My Home which is a nice rendition of the great Piano Man album ballad, An Innocent Man where Billy goes for the C5s on the song that he usually avoided during the prime era along with him sounding amazing throughout the course of the song, Sometimes A Fantasy which as usual for these 1998 renditions are fantastic to listen to and Captain Jack which, as usual is performed for the people of Philadelphia.
