PAUL MCCARTNEY AND WINGS Tour: Wings Over The World // Leg 5: Europe Venue: Live at the Piazza San Marco City: Venice, Italy Date: September 25th, 1976 As part of the concerts in aid by UNICEF, Wings played an open-air show in front of 30,000 people in Venice’s Piazza San Marco, their only ever show in Italy. Unfortunately, the atmosphere tonight isn't nearly as good as it was during the Vienna and Zagreb shows, making for a bit of a tough show as Wings struggle to impress the Italian crowd, with Denny even growing quite frustrated at them (he straight up tells them: "Come on, let’s see you do something tonight! We’ve been doing all the work here" during 'Time To Hide'. Despite these issues, our guys (and gal) still try their best to put on a great show, with some fantastic musicianship to be heard and some great stuff, mainly from Joe (his drumming during songs such as 'Medicine Jar' and 'Beware My Love' is simply top tier), and Jimmy (he's going the fuck OFF during 'Live and Let Die', as well as other great performances from him through the night). Paul is a bit raspier and weaker when compared to the first two nights of the tour, leading to some off moments for tour standards, but he manages to recover and 30 minutes into the show, he's back to being a force to be reckoned with. Some highlights include a fantastic 'Call Me Back Again', yet another elite 'Beware My Love', possibly the greatest 'Letting Go' ever, and one of the best performances of 'Soily'.
