Final Fantasy II GBA - Borghen

Final Fantasy II GBA - Borghen

Game: Final Fantasy II Port: GBA Emulator: VBA v1.8.0 Borghen will try to ambush you at the exit of the Snow Cavern. Slaying him is mandatory to continue the game, but it will come at the cost of Josef's life. His death will be avenged! Make sure before you face this boss that you have good standing with Josef's stats, magic and equipment if you plan on doing the Afterlife, as he will team up with Minwu and Scott to face his 2500 HP Zombie form. If you are playing the PSP version, make sure you have gotten the Dragon Claws equipped before you challenge this boss. In either the GBA or PSP port, try to send him with decent HP (800 or more), Cure, Life, Esuna, Basuna, Berserk (Magician drop), 1 or 2 buff and debuff spells with these spells leveled to 3 to 4. Sending him with a Mage Staff from Magicians and Golden Armor from the Captain isn't a bad idea either. In the PSP version, you can also get Golden Cuirass from Sorcerers are a rare drop from Wizard. If Minwu didn't learn Curse, Toad (drops from the Captain as well) or Sleep (drop from the Ogre Magi), teach it to Josef. PSP players also get the bonus of teaching him Drain or Death from the Wizard dungeon in the Arcane Labyrinth. Prioritize on Drain as this spell is unavailable in the Afterlife and you do not legitimately get this tome as drops until the Dreadnought (which makes only Ricard able to learn it). If you are playing the NES version, unequip anything useful Josef is using, especially if he has Flame Bow, Golden Armor or the Diamond Shield you got from Adamantoise. PLAN ===== There isn't much of a plan, he is just a Sergeant with a lot less vitals and is a goofy pirate who wishes he could be as awesome as Kefka from FF6 was. But if your Strength isn't high, he can heal himself with Restore III, which can drag the fight. Just attack him with anything strong like magic or high powered weapons. If you want to get some stat improvements, just do some harm and buffing to your party for a few rounds, then kill him. If you want kill him in the most embarrassing way possible, you can level up the Toad spell past 4 (drop from Captain) and turn him into a frog. Warp and Teleport also work the same way. Slaying him doesn't net much in terms of rewards. The Mythril Knife can be bought but a free Hi-Potion doesn't hurt. STATS ====== Rank 4 HP: 240 MP: 20 Attack: 40 Defense: 17 Magic Defense: 3 - 50% Accuracy: 1 - 75% Evasion: 1 - 40% Gil: 600 No Immunities Drops Mythril Knife, Hi Potion Attack - Standard attack against 1 party member Restore 3 - Heals himself. Draining his MP with Sap or Silencing him renders this ineffective.
