The Cornishman to Plymouth - 4965 and 5043 - 27th April 2013 The Cornishman started from Tyseley, Birmingham, and ran to Plymouth and return on 27th April 2013. GWR engines 4965 Rood Ashton Hall and 5043 Earl of Mount Edgcumbe hauled the train from Bristol to Plymouth and back to Bristol. The railtour was filmed at Whiteball and Dainton on the outward leg, at Dainton and Tiverton Parkway on the return. At Whiteball there was a strong northerly wind, it felt like mid winter. At Dainton, I was filming over the top of a group of people in front of me. At the last moment, one of the group decided to stand up on the fence and he therefore appears in the bottom corner of the video. I didn't get a chance to thank him! On the return trip, I decided to go to the westerly end of Dainton tunnel, having never been there before. There is a lot of line side growth so it is very much a head on shot. This was taken with the permission of the landowner. The final clip is taken at Tiverton Parkway. The train had been released 20 minutes early from Tiverton Loop and I had only just set up the camera, so I was a bit late starting the recording.
