The Minstermen made the trip down to Twerton Park to face a Bristol Rovers with aspiration of promotion very much still alive as York looked for points to pull away from the wrong end of the table. There was a recall to the side for Graeme Murty and experienced winger Paul Stephenson made another welcome return on the City bench. There was also a call up for Gary Himsworth replacing Richard Cresswell. Dean Kiely, City’s acrobatic keeper, turned from villain to hero with only two minutes played as the York stopper first gave away a penalty, then saved it to deny Rovers’ star man Marcus Stewart another goal. However, a few minutes later, Stewart had the last laugh with a beautiful volley into the back of the net leaving Kiely helpless, and that was to be the only goal of a disappointing game. York City: Kiely, McMillan, Atkinson, Bushell, Barras, Atkin, Murty, Randall, Barnes, Naylor, Himsworth (Stephenson). Attendance: 4,013 Footage from ITV Sport Re-edited and Remastered by Phil Howden
