UK Weather Forecast: Widespread Frost And Dense Fog Tonight (Monday 17th January 2022)

Good morning everyone and welcome to today's UK weather forecast on Monday 17th January 2022 Current Situation: High pressure has built over the country once again. Today: Most places have started dry with patchy fog in western regions but also sunny spells in the east. There's been a widespread frost across Wales and south west England overnight. Through the rest of the day clouds will thicken across Scotland and Northern Ireland but England and Wales will have good sunny spells. Temperatures will range from 3C to 8C. Tonight: Scotland and Northern Ireland will be quite cloudy but should stay dry. England and Wales will have clear spells and dense fog patches. There will be a widespread frost for England and Wales as well with temperatures falling to -5C in some places. The fog will be freezing in nature with a risk of icy patches on untreated surfaces. Scotland should stay frost free. Tomorrow: Patchy rain will arrive across Northern Ireland and western Scotland but the rest of the country will stay dry with the best of the sunshine in the south and east although some dense fog patches could linger all day. Temperatures will be very cold where fog sticks around at 0C but otherwise temperatures range from 3C to 7C. Outlook: Wednesday: Rather cloudy but more sunshine in the north. Milder in the south but turning colder in the north. Thursday: A cold northerly wind but plenty of sunshine. Hard frost early and late.
