Final Fantasy IV: Ultima #28 - Escaping the Cave

Final Fantasy IV: Ultima is a hack by 8-bit fan that aims to present a more expansive version of the classic. New weapons, spells, bosses, and a modified overworld are just a few of the changes on tap. The latest version of the patch can always be found here: https://www.romhacking.net/hacks/4134/ Time to escape the cave, but there's two problems with that. First, upon exiting the crystal room, the walls decide to act up again. There's no twins to stop random walls closing in this time so it's up to the team to break down some walls themselves. This boss, the Demon Wall, is basically a damage race. Its physicals aren't the best at damage and it can counter magic with slow petrify. Why is it a damage race then? Because the Demon Wall gradually lurches forward as it attacks. If it gets right up in your party's faces, then it can instantly kill a target every time it acts. Best thing to do is berserk Cecil, Edge, and Kain to let them go to town on the boss. Rosa could work too if you want, just make sure she casts Slow first to minimize the turns the wall gets and you should be able to kill it long before it can get close to your party. The second problem of escaping...well, right before you get back to the entrance, I unequip everything from Kain. You can probably guess what happens after that. If you guessed that Golbez took control of Kain once more and he swipes the crystal from Cecil before making a break for it, congrats, you win a prize of Kain leaving your party once more! After making it back to the Falcon, return to the Dwarven Castle to let Giott know Kain went and took another crystal. Our only hope now is to book it to Mysidia and inquire about the legend of the Lunar Whale. Only problem is that there's currently no way to get out of the underworld. However, Cid comes barging in and decides to being another modification to the Falcon, this time attaching a drill to the front of it. Lovely! Once you make it to Mysidia, the elder greets you at the entrance and tells you to come to the tower where the prayers are being held. Once the Mysidian legend is recalled once more, another round of prayers brings the mythical Lunar Whale to the world. With it, we can get to the moon and try to stop Golbez. First though...having access to the overworld once more means I can clear out every sidequest available right now and boy are they worth it due to the rewards involved. We'll get cracking on those next time.
