Microsoft Excel Tutorial: Excel Paste Options: Convert Formulas to Values with Keyboard Shortcuts and Mouse. Welcome to another episode of the MrExcel podcast. In this episode, we're diving into Excel 2010's Paste Options menu, specifically the ability to quickly convert formulas to values. Before Excel 2010, my go-to method for this was to right-click and drag, but now there's an even faster way. Let's take a look. First, we have a set of formulas that we want to convert to values. Instead of right-clicking and dragging, we can simply use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+C to copy and then Ctrl+V to paste. This will bring up the Paste Options menu, which can also be opened with the shortcut Ctrl. From here, we can see a variety of options, each with their own shortcut key. The one we want is values, which is represented by the letter V in parentheses. So, to quickly convert our formulas to values, we can use the shortcut Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V, Ctrl, V. This keeps our hands on the keyboard and is the fastest method I've found. But, if you prefer using the mouse, you can also right-click and choose the Paste Options menu, then select values. To make things even easier, I've created a chart with all the keyboard shortcuts and their corresponding icons. You can find this chart on our WordPress blog, so you can print it out and keep it handy next to your computer. The hardest part is figuring out what each icon means, but once you have that down, converting formulas to values will be a breeze. Now, for the absolute fastest way to convert formulas to values, we can use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+C to copy and then the Program key (also known as the Context key) and V to paste. This will bring up the right-click menu and automatically select the values option. It may take a bit of practice to get used to, but once you do, it will become your new favorite method.
