My report after visiting the Asbury Revival / Outpouring / Awakening on 2/16/23. It’s organic, unforced and unhurried. A beautiful simplicity. It’s not the same feeling you have with a planned event. This wasn’t planned. It feels that way. It’s like you just went over to someone’s house to worship together with your friends. Except the Father is letting you catch wind of just a little bit more of his presence than we usually are aware of. Many of us know that presence from church services (or personal times) and it’s wonderful. But the sweetness is sustained there at Asbury. It’s like He decided to turn up the volume and leave it there for a bit 🙂. As soon as I heard about Asbury, I wanted to go there. It took me several days to make it happen… but in that time, I definitely had some sweeter than normal times with Jesus. And, by the way, I had this funny urge to just put on praise music instead of my usual quiet Bible reading and meditation. I happened to be meeting with Him in just the same way as they were meeting with Him up in Kentucky. I’ve seen people from across the world talking about the same sort of thing - a noticeable increase in that ease of connecting with God - in the comments from my recent videos on IG and TikTok. This is a time of hosting the presence. That’s what it started with. Some students were engaging with God and didn’t stop. This relationship / connecting with God cannot be rushed. So many of us are so over-booked and tied to our schedules and not prioritizing the ultimate relationship in life. It’s time to prioritize the presence - relationship with Him - be present in His presence - unhurried, quality time. It’s not just for special occasions but for all the time. My friends, the God of the universe wants a passionate love affair with you. And from that place of intimate relationship, he wants to change the world. And for those of you who think this is just all about people singing songs - be careful how quickly you judge 😉. There was an excellent gospel presentation and the speaker had the people (I counted 5-7) stand up and pray out loud all by themselves. Then they were called forward to meet with individuals. There was also a separate time to call Christians to rededicate their lives and several people responded. There were other times where scripture was read, testimonies were shared and a couple other people gave a word. All of it was done with reverence for the sacredness of the space and what God was doing - things were kept brief, and I appreciated that. There is clearly wisdom present. One of the leaders said that what they were doing was “forming a community every day to live under the presence” and that they’re just stewarding that community. He said, “Wouldn’t it be something if this was like church? I want you to invite you to normalize this. We’re not scorning our home churches… in fact we want to love them all the more.” There are reports from many other places where groups are encountering God in a corporate time and they just don’t want to stop - they can’t - it just wouldn’t be right. I’ve heard reports of similar times breaking out in Ohio, Tennessee, Alabama, Texas, Missouri, Indiana - even Paraguay! So, you may want to visit Wilmore, KY but it sure seems like God is on the move and He’s coming to a city near you. #asburyrevival #asburyrevival2023 Follow The Deeper Life on IG, TikTok, FB & Twitter for more updates on the spreading revival!
