Chinese mainland aviation authorities notified Taipei of the plan on April 11, the day after Beijing said that People’s Liberation Army (PLA) had concluded its three-day Joint Sword exercises around the self-ruled island. Taipei defence officials said that as of April 12, dozens of mainland warships and warplanes were still being detected near Taiwan.
