Toronto Wedding Officiant | Alex Rajak | Wedding Ceremony Music Playlist & Structure

The wedding ceremony music playlist consists of #1. The Prelude #2. The Processional (bridal party & for bride's walk) #3. Unity Ceremony/Marriage License Signing ( optional ) #4. The Recessional The timing and the choice of music play’s a vital role of the ceremony. To keep things simple it’s best to have 4-5 pieces of distinct songs. 1. Have some background music playing as your guests are entering and being seated. 2. Have a separate song for your Bridal party entering and a separate song for when the bride enters. There should be a brief pause and silence right before the Brides song starts playing (10 seconds, this is a great way to build up anticipation and it gives the officiant a chance to ask every one to rise/stand up). 3. Although not essential, I find from my experience that it’s best to have some light background music playing if you decide to do the signing during the ceremony or wish to have a sand/candle ceremony. It could even be the same song or playlist used when guests were entering. Just as long as it’s not total silence. It acts as a little break for the couple and even guests to chat briefly. 4. The Final song is for your Processional, pick a song with high energy and something that brings positive thoughts and feelings to you both. I remember one couple had “ Rocky – Final Countdown Theme” as their exit song, which I thought was pretty cool and unique. So think outside the box and choose something that you like! Some other helpful hints and suggestions Make sure your DJ or Musician is positioned in a location where they can have a clear and unobstructed view of the ceremony. It also helps me to co-ordinate with the DJ/ Musician of when to start and stop playing the music. I’ve seen some awkward situations where the DJ was in positioned in a totally different room, where her/she had no idea of what was going on! It really messed up the timing and took away the intimacy from the ceremony.
