Uttarakhand Glacier Burst: Rescue operations continue at Tapovan tunnel for the sixth day

On the sixth day after the glacier burst, rescue operations continued at the Tapovan Tunnel in Chamoli district, the state government reported on Friday. Earlier on Thursday, following an increase in water levels in the Rishiganga Dam, the rescue operation was temporarily halted. It's estimated that about 30 people are stuck inside the tunnel. In Chamoli district, as many as 36 bodies have been recovered from different areas hit by the glacier burst, while 204 individuals are still missing. The Chamoli Police have announced that the level of water in the Rishiganga is rising and that people living in neighbouring areas are being notified.
