About R5,1 billion of NSFAS money has been used to illegally fund students who do not qualify for financial assistance. This was revealed during a briefing to Parliament's Standing Committee on Public Accounts. The Special Investigating Unit updated MPs on the preliminary findings of its probe into allegations of maladministration and improper funding at the National Student Financial Aid Scheme. NSFAS media unit will issue a press release tomorrow at 10h00 regarding the allegation that R5.1 billion was illegally paid to 40 000 students that did not qualify for funding.
