Afghanistan bombing: Taliban attack NATO convoy in Kabul, one dead, more than 20 injured - TomoNews

KABUL, AFGHANISTAN — A four armored-vehicle NATO military convoy was hit by a car bomb on Tuesday in the Afghan capital Kabul. The convoy was attacked at around 1:20 P.M. on the road to Kabul airport by a suicide bomber driving a Toyota Corolla, NBC News reported. The attack happened half a mile from the US Embassy, as roads were full of employees leaving offices in the area as working days during Ramadan are shorter. The explosion killed one civilian and wounded more than 20 others. Two American soldiers sustained minor injuries. The Taliban later claimed responsibility for the attack on Twitter, saying an American vehicle had been destroyed. Only a small NATO contingent remains in Afghanistan as most troops left last year after the combat mission concluded. The soldiers who operate under NATO's Resolute Support mission in the country come from 42 different countries.
