Brushy Mountain Trail, Great Smoky Mountains National Park

October 23, 2025. Hiking the Brushy Mountain Trail starting from the Porters Creek trailhead in Greenbrier up to Trillium Gap and then to the summit. Round trip was 12 miles with an elevation gain of slightly over 3000 feet. The views are arguably some of the best in the park of the Appalachian Trail ridge line as well as Mount Le Conte. No bears on the trail, but did see a one to two year old scrambling up the hillside on the drive out.
