This new rule will be effective in all railway zones across the country, including the East Zone of Goa. Travel on waitlisted tickets will be completely banned from January 1, 2026 According to the new rules, passengers holding waitlisted (WL) tickets will no longer be allowed to board sleeper (SL) and all AC coaches (1A, 2A, 3A). If all seats in a reserved coach on a train are full, then: 🔹️No new waiting-list tickets will be issued. 🔹️Nor will existing WL ticket holders be able to board that coach. 🔹️If a ticket remains in the waiting list even after the chart is prepared, it will be considered invalid. 🔹️Why did the Railways implement this rule? 🔹️According to railway officials, this decision was taken in view of several serious problems. 🔹️The problem of overcrowding and overbooking 🔹️The boarding of wait-listed passengers in reserved coaches led to excessive crowding, causing great inconvenience to passengers with confirmed tickets. ✅️Safety reasons 🔸️Overcrowding in coaches posed a significant risk of disputes, falling incidents, and emergencies.
