Tight security ahead of Friday prayers

(16 Oct 2015) Security in Jerusalem has been bolstered ahead of Friday prayers after a spate of violent attacks in the region. Israeli police said they would restrict the entrance of Muslim men below the age of 40 from praying at al-Aqsa mosque. The violence began with clashes at Jerusalem's most sensitive holy site and quickly spread to Arab neighborhoods in east Jerusalem, as well as the West Bank and Gaza. In the past month, eight Israelis have been killed in Palestinian attacks, most of them stabbings. During the same period, 31 Palestinians were killed by Israeli fire, including 14 labelled by Israel as attackers, and the others in clashes between stone-throwers and Israeli troops.
