DCS F-16C 4-Ship Formation Transitions

When flying through dense airspace, the Finger-Four formation is very handy for a 4-ship. When approaching overhead the runway, a transition into Echelon formation should be performed to prepare for the overhead break. As a Flight Lead, strive to perform most of the maneuvering in Finger-Four before ordering Echelon. Turns AWAY from your flight in Echelon formation are acceptable but should be avoided if possible. If turning, your wingmen should maintain your nose on the horizon (not rise above). Turns into your flight should not be attempted. In this video we demonstrate transitions from Finger-Four to Echelon by either the Element (nr. 3 & nr. 4) or the nr. 2 aircraft. All maneuvering in formation should be performed at a steady and controlled pace. Rule of thumb: imaging being on the ground and walking your way into position. Have fun and remember: virtual safety first!
