ORLEANS COUNTY/Albion Head on collision with milk tanker sends one woman to Rochester hospital A Toyota Rav 4 headed for the Village of Albion crossed over into oncoming traffic on Rt. 98 and struck a milk tanker truck head on Wednesday night. The accident occurred a little before 6:00 p.m. at 3754 Rt. 98 between West County House road and Allen. The Rav 4 struck the axle of the tanker truck and broke it, causing the tanker to break free from the truck. The tanker, loaded with milk, then overturned and rolled over into a building that contains an auto wholesale business. The truck remained upright. The driver of the truck was not injured. The female driver of the Rav 4 had to be extricated from her vehicle due to heavy front end damage. Due to the possibility of internal injuries, the woman was transported by Mercy Flight to Strong Hospital in Rochester. She was conscious and alert at the time. A code enforcement officer was also called to the scene to check the stability of the building after the crash. A neighbor who heard the accident says the truck sounded his horn at least twice, he then heard a loud bang that shook his house. Albion Police are investigating the accident. Barre Fire also assisted with traffic control.
