Catholic Church in Poland Helps Thousands of Refugees Fleeing Ukraine | EWTN News Nightly
Russian President Vladimir Putin has agreed to send a delegation to engage in talks with Ukrainian officials. A meeting place, however, has not yet been arranged. And in Ukraine, tension and fear remain. Alarms sounded for a second straight day in the capital city of Kyiv. Around 40 miles north, fighting on the ground destroyed at least one bridge. Citizens are now leaving Ukraine with many going to neighboring Poland. EWTN Manager of Eastern and Central Europe, Iwo Bender, joins us from Poland to share how the Catholic Church in Poland is helping the nearly 30,000 Ukrainians that crossed into Poland just yesterday. Bender discusses what the needs are of the refugees and what the anticipated needs are, as most Ukrainians are fleeing with very little. He tells us what the atmosphere is like in Poland right now and how people are feeling about what is happening in Ukraine which is right on Poland's doorstep.
