The Supreme Court Collegium headed by Chief Justice of India (CJI) NV Ramana has suggested nine names for appointment as SC judges out of which three are said to be women. With the retirement of Justice RF Nariman the strength of judges in the top court was reduced to 25. No appointment was made after the superannuation of the then CJI Ranjan Gogoi on March 19, 2019. It is now being reported that a five-member collegium sent 9 names, which included three names of woman judges, which includes Justice BV Nagarathna from the Karnataka High Court, Justice Hima Kohli, the Chief Justice of Telangana High Court, and Justice Bela Trivedi, a Gujarat High Court judge.
