Biggest daily increase of coronavirus cases recorded

The World Health Organisation has warned the pandemic is far from over after the biggest daily increase across the globe. The body's director-general expressed concern over the rapid spread of the virus in poorer countries, as wealthier nations began to emerge from lockdown. The number of infections worldwide hit another grim milestone, reaching five million. The infection rate has been growing in Latin America, with Brazil becoming the country with the third most cases after it surpassed the UK. The WHO has been heavily criticised by US President Donald Trump for its handling of the outbreak, however the organisation supported calls for greater accountability from the US. Image: AP
