Coronavirus infections globally have accelerated to a new daily record with more than 228,000 cases recorded over the past 24-hours bringing the total of known cases so far to more than 12.4 million. The biggest surges were recorded in the US, Brazil, India and South Africa. The World Health Organization has likened the acceleration of cases to a bushfire and has called for greater global cooperation.
