Wide of swimmers in the sea STORYLINE CHILLY START TO 2010 Thousands of people of Belgium welcomed in the new decade on Saturday (02JAN10) with a chilly new year dip in the North Sea. After 15 minutes of stretching and warming up more than six thousand swimmers lined up on Ostend''s beach and ran into the four degree celsius water. Out of the water the temperature peaked at one degree celsius. "Very cold! It''s all I can say," one swimmer said.
